Yandy Díaz reached all five times up Wednesday, going 3-for-3 with two walks as the Rays edged the Marlins 2-1 in 10 innings.

The second walk was intentional in the 10th and preceded Manuel Margot's go-ahead single. Díaz's OBP is all of the way up to .395 in 482 plate appearances. He now has a four-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 8-for-17 with a home run, two RBI and six runs scored. Diaz is hitting .283/.389/.416 across 478 plate appearances on the season. He has limitations elsewhere, but as long as the Rays keep playing him regularly and hitting him at the top of the order, he has mixed-league value.

Luis Robert (wrist) was held out of the White Sox starting lineup yet again for Wednesday's tilt against the Royals.

Robert hasn't played since last Thursday due to his lingering left wrist injury, though the White Sox still haven't thought about placing him on the injured list. AJ Pollock will start in his place in center field again on Wednesday night and will bat fifth against Kris Bubic and the Royals.

Orioles' Cionel Pérez: Hold #20 of the year.

Cionel Pérez collected his hold number 20 of the year, after pitching an scoreless inning on Wednesday's 4-0 victory against the Guardians. Pérez allowed a hit and struck out a hitter while only using 13 pitches, 11 of them for strikes. The young lefthander has now pitched 4 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings, after a rough outing on August 17 against the Blue Jays, when he allowed three earned runs and couldn't get an out.

Gurriel's brothers: Hitless on Wednesday.

The Gurriel brothers had a rough Wednesday night going 0-for-7 with 3 strikeouts. Yulieski continues his poor season at bat and went 0-for-4 with 2 strikeouts and a walk in a 5-3 victory against the Rangers. Meanwhile Lourdes was 0-for-3 with a run scored and a strikeout in a 7-5 loss to the Cubs. Yulieski has collected 107 hits this year but shows a slash line of .240/.291/.365. On the other hand, Lourdes is batting .290 with 127 hits, and slash line of .290/.328/.468, however he is just slashing ..215/.261/.308 in his last 15 games.

White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Walks twice in return. Grandal went 0-for-2 with two walks in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Royals. Grandal missed 10 days on the injured list with a knee injury, and he was able to play nine innings behind the dish Wednesday. He should resume the No. 1 catcher role now that he's healthy, though Thursday's series finale is an afternoon game, meaning he'll likely start that contest on the bench. For the year, Grandal's slashing .202/.310/.257 with three home runs, 21 RBI, nine runs scored and a stolen base through 75 contests.

Red's José Barrero: Hitless, again, on Wednesday.

José Barrero, a good defensive shortstop but a very weak offensive player, went 0-for-5 on Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Cardinals. Barrero walked and scored a run but his bat continues to suffer leaving 8 runners on base on Wednesday. Barrero is slashing .151/.180/.233 in 24 games this year and has struck out 41 times. For Barrero it was his first game this year without a strikeout. His 23-game streak stroking out tied Franmil Reyes (2022) and Tyler Austin (2018) for the 3rd longest streak by a non-pitcher to start a season. Adam Dunn's 32-game streak to start 2012 is #1.

White Sox activated C Yasmani Grandal from the 10-day injured list.

Grandal is back in the fold with the White Sox ahead of Wednesday night's game against the Royals after missing a couple of weeks with a left knee strain. He has been an absolute mess offensively this season and may be limited as to how much catching he can do the rest of the way.

Padres' Adrián Morejón: Four hold of the year.

Morejón pitched an inning on Wednesday's 5-4 victory against the Giants, collecting his hold #4 of the year. However, the southpaw saw his ERA going up to 3.00, after allowing one earned run on two hits during his 19 pitches inning.

Athletics recalled RHP Norge Ruíz from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Zach Jackson (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday, so the A's already had an open roster spot. Ruíz has surrendered seven runs on 15 hits and a walk in six major league innings this year.

Astros' Yordan Álvarez: Intends to rejoin lineup Friday. Álvarez (hand), who was out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers, said he is "100 percent" and expects to return to the starting nine Friday versus the Angels, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reported. Though his sore left hand will keep him on the bench for a third straight game, Álvarez doesn't believe his injury is as significant as his bout with right hand inflammation back in July, which forced him to the 10-day injured list shortly before the All-Star break. The Wednesday extra day off go along with Thursday's team off day looks like it might provide sufficient time for Álvarez to recover from the injury.
