Yuli Gurriel went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and three runs scored Tuesday as the Astros beat the Red Sox.

In the Astros' huge top of the second inning, Gurriel contributed by hitting a 381-foot two-run home run off of Nathan Eovaldi. Though his power output has been modest to begin the campaign, Gurriel has hit all three of his home runs in his last five starts, also chipping in seven RBI and six runs scored while hitting .500. That has improved his line to .248/.287/.430 across 129 plate appearances. He's hit safely in six of his last seven games.

Aroldis Chapman allowed a run in the ninth on Tuesday against the Orioles, but still earned his ninth save of the season.

Chapman opened up the bottom of the ninth with a strikeout and a ground out, but after allowing two straight singles, a Ryan McKenna double drove in a run. Fortunately, Chapman got Cedric Mullins to pop out to finish the game. He's given up a run in four straight appearances.

Cionel Pérez continues his good form from the bullpen.

Cionel Pérez made his 13 appearances on Tuesday night against the Yankees, striking out Joey Gallo to end the seventh inning when the Yankees took a decisive 5-4 lead. Pérez has now pitched in 10 2/3 innings, has 11 strikeouts, 11 hits, and a 0.84 ERA for the year.

José Abreu was out of the White Sox lineup for the second half of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Royals.

Abreu had a walk, two hits, and drove in two runs in the early game as the White Sox won 3-0, but the veteran slugger grabbed some rest during the nightcap. Luis Robert took a turn at designated hitter.

Rays' Randy Arozarena: Clubs second homer.

Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a sacrifice fly and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 8-1 win against Detroit. Arozarena now has two home runs and 11 RBI through 36 games, as he's off to a slow start in 2022. However, the 27-year-old has shown more life in May with a .274 average, seven extra-base hits and three stolen bases.

José Abreu drove 2 while White Sox top Royals 3-0. Luis Robert and Yasmani Grandal went blank.

Abreu hit a two-run double in a three-run fifth inning, to continue his climbing to a better offensive season. The Cuban first baseman went 2-for-3 on Tuesday's first doubleheader game and is now slashing .211/.349/.328. Meanwhile, Luis Robert and Yasmani Grandal went 0-for-7 combined, with 9 runners left on base.

Rockies' José Iglesias: Did not start on Wednesday. Iglesias did not start Wednesday versus the Giants. Iglesias got a breather Wednesday after starting the first two games of the series, going 1-for-7 in those contests. Garrett Hampson got the start at shortstop and batted eighth in the series finale.

Marlins' Jorge Soler: Receives maintenance day. Soler was out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals. Soler, is sitting for only the third time through the Marlins' first 36 games of the season. Soler should check back into the lineup for the series finale Wednesday, when he'll put a seven-game hitting streak on the line.
